Three Falls Elementary is a Chinese Dual Immersion school. We begin with first grade where students are immersed in learning Chinese for half the school day and then spend the other half of the day in a traditional school setting learning core literacy concepts. As these students progress from year to year, they will have a new Chinese teacher that will continue to instruct them further in the Chinese language and culture. By the time students graduate from Three Falls elementary, they will continue to receive Chinese instruction at the Intermediate and Middle school level. It is anticipated that by the time these students are in nineth grade, they will be fluent enough with the language to take AP Chinese and then continue to receive college level credit as they enter high school. We are pleased to offer arts-rich and arts-integrated instruction at Three Falls Elementary School with the expert help of our Arts-Integrated and Music teacher, Mrs. Behunin. Most of this program is funded through the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program. With your help, we can work to keep the BTSALP Program at our school and expand the program into every Utah elementary school. The advocacy organization, Friends of Art Works for Kids, was established to protect funding for arts specialists in schools and to advocate for elementary arts education. If you have not already done so, please show your support of the cause by visiting www.artworksforkids.org. You can use the site to become a ‘friend of Art Works for Kids,’ to contact your legislator and convey how important this program is to you and your child, and to learn more about how and why arts-integrated education works.
